Priscilla Mlay
CREATIVE SUPERVISOR
Cece is a seasoned filmmaker and Creative Supervisor at Kijiweni Productions. She has worked on the production of some well known Tanzanian films and Television and radio shows. She is passionate about stories that highlight the complex nature of humanity under the dynamics of social, economic, political, and historical Her first feature-length documentary as a co-director: “The Empty Grave”. It follows Tanzanian families on the search for their dearly beloved ancestral remains that are stored in boxes in German Museums. This journey is a testament to the resilience of communities binding love for their great grandfathers/mothers that has echoed across the silence of a violent historical erasure.
Sabri Atigh
ACCOUNTANT
Sabri Atigh earned bachelor degree in Accounting from Tanzania Institute of Accountancy, and went to explore his passion for cinema earning his first role as an assistant production accountant on Kijiweni’s 1950s period drama, Vuta N’Kuvute (Tug of War). He is currently Kijiweni’s production accountant working on their various film projects. Beyond the numbers Sabri explores his creative side capturing the world through his camera lens.
Halima Geuya
INTERN
Halima Geuya is an educator, writer, and creative researcher whose storytelling spans children's literature, poetry, fiction, and feminist historiography. She is currently documenting the life of Li’ti Kidanka, a forgotten heroine of anti-colonial resistance in central Tanzania, with a focus on decolonising historical narratives and amplifying women’s voices. A published author of Kiswahili children's books and poems in acclaimed literary journals, Halima is passionate about creating stories that celebrate African heritage, challenge silences around marginalised communities, and reimagine local histories. At Kijiweni Productions, she is excited to explore how to blend her love for narrative with visual storytelling that educates, entertains, and empowers.
Amil Shivji
FOUNDER | FILM DIRECTOR
Amil Shivji is filmmaker, educator, and mentor based in his homeland Tanzania. He believes in using images to challenge the powers that be, in particular deconstructing urban facades of development and emphasizing the strength and struggles of marginalized communities. Over the past twelve years, his production house Kijiweni Productions has produced the most celebrated and decorated Tanzanian films while training hundreds of artists. He has an MFA from York University and is a Berlinale Talent Alumni, a founding member of the East African Screen Collective, and a Tejumola Olaniyan Creative Writers-in-Residence Fellow and is participating in the EAVE producer’s workshop 2025. He lectured at the University of Dar es Salaam for seven years, helping establish their Bachelor’s degree program in Film and Television. His award-winning films have played in over 300 screens worldwide. He premiered his fiction feature, Vuta N’Kuvute (Tug of War), a story of love and resistance set in British colonial Zanzibar, at TIFF’21. It won the Oumarou Ganda Prize at FESPACO’21, special Jury prize in Seattle, Golden Tanit and FIPRESCI critics award in Carthage, and is Tanzania’s second ever submission to the Oscars®. He recently produced The Empty Grave, which premiered at Berlinale ’24 and has played in over fifty cinemas in Germany.
Everbight Everready
IMPACTS ASSISTANT
Everbright Everready is a Tanzanian filmmaker, producer, and multidisciplinary creative whose work bridges storytelling, performance, and community. She is currently part of Kijiweni Productions as an Impact Assistant, contributing to socially-driven filmmaking while continuing to build a body of work rooted in African expression, movement, and meaning. With a background in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam and training from the Multichoice Talent Factory East Africa Academy (Class of 2024), she brings a unique blend of structure and creativity to film production. Her practice is grounded in amplifying African narratives that speak to identity, vulnerability, and joy—often merging her passion for dance with visual storytelling.
She produced the feature film Deadbeat, which premiered on Showmax and was nominated for the AMVCAs 2025. Her experience spans both narrative and non-fiction work, including roles as Production Manager on Wondarland, Production Accountant on the Mnet-commissioned Frida, and lead coordinator of the MTF Sound Design Masterclass in Nairobi. She also served as host and co-creator of Kosa Sio Kosa, a podcast that explored creativity through the lens of mistakes and growth.
